Ariel and I were treated to a a sneak peek preview of Hotel Transylvania 2 recently and we fell in love all over again with Drac and his pack. We laughed the entire time…. and we weren’t the only ones!! The entire theater was entranced and entertained.
As I mentioned in my Hotel Transylvania 2 giveaway post last week (have you entered yet??? Go here to enter!), we adored the original Hotel Transylvania when it came out a few years ago and fell in love with Drac, Mavis, Johnny, and the rest of the gang. There was enough slapstick humor to please the kids (and the kids-at-heart) and enough adult/parenting humor that the adults could enjoy too. Add to all of that, a sweet message of acceptance and love across differences and you have a perfect movie.
Hotel Transylvania 2 builds on all of those strengths. We get to see Mavis and Johnny as adults/young parents, meet their son Dennis, and fall in love with everyone all over again.
There were many touching scenes where parental love shone through and the struggles we all have (or maybe it’s just me not wanting my baby to grow up?!) watching our children grow and mature and become independent.
The version of Hotel Transylvania 2 we saw was 3D and I have to admit, I am so incredibly prone to being motion sick that I don’t ever choose a 3D movie when we go to the cinema. I LOVED it! Didn’t get sick at all and quite the opposite–thought the 3D added so much to the movie experience that I highly recommend it to everyone I can to see this movie in 3D!
